Team Farm Power Participates in Pedal Across the Plains

Last weekend, approximately 1,000 bike riders participated in the fifth annual Pedals The Plains bike ride which covered more than 150 miles throughout southeast part of the state over three days.

The Colorado Farm Bureau has collaborated with Colorado For Responsible Energy Development and Keep Energy Affordable to make up a team of 25 members called Farm Power. Colorado Farm Bureau Associate Director of Communications John Dooley says this event is a great opportunity to promote agriculture and connect with consumers.

Dooley: "What makes this such a great platform for us three to come together as Team Farm Power is that this cycling ride allows us to talk to other cyclists and let them know the relationship between agriculture and energy and the dependence of cheap and affordable food depends on cheap and affordable energy. It's such a great platform for us to spread that message and to be a part of."

Dooley continues with more about opportunities for cyclists to learn more about the ag and energy industries.

Dooley: "During the route there are several different agricultural educational stops along the way. That shows off the community that you are in, talks about interesting facts about the community. People notice our jerseys and ask questions , 'What is Farm Power and why?' It allows us to engage with them and tell them our message."
