Corn Research Tour in Wray on October 5

The Colorado Corn Administrative Committee is hosting a tour of its research projects early next month on October 5th in Wray. It will be held from 11 a.m. to 2 p.m. at the Wray Community Room and lunch will be provided.

Colorado Corn Communications Director Eric Brown shares more details about the research projects that will be shown.

Brown: "W're going to be taking a look at some things that should be really be of interest to farmers in that area as far as water savings with variable-rate irrigation and how it specifically applies to guys in the Ogallala Acquifer area. Another one we are taking a look at is a CSU project out in that area where they are testing the yield performance of drought tolerant corn hybrids compared to traditional non-drought tolerant hybrids. Then the third one we are taking a look at is the USDA ARS' they are continuing something we have been invested in for a while overseeing development of a tool for monitoring and managing water stress in corn. So just to give folks an idea of the three things we are going to spend most of our time looking at out in Wray."

Brown reminds folks about RSVP deadline

Brown: "We're asking people to RSVP about a week in advance of that one just by calling the office. September 28th is really when we are wanting to have a head count for lunch and for getting around to the couple different sites."

Please RSVP to Ann Cross at across@coloradocorn.com, or by calling (970) 351-8201 no later than Sept. 28.
