Colorado Crop Progress Report

National Ag Statistics Service’s Mountain Regional Director Bill Meyer shares corn data from Colorado Crop Progress Report from the week ending November 1st.
Meyer: “Corn in Colorado production is forecast at 151.7 million bushels, up three percent from last year. We expect 960,000 acres to be harvested for grain that is unchanged from our October forecast but that is 50,000 acres below last year. Our yield is estimated at 158 bushels per acre that is unchanged from last month but up 12 bushels above last year’s final yield. As of November 1st — when the survey reference date is — our corn was rated 3 percent poor, 23 percent fair, 61 percent good and 13 percent excellent. A very good corn crop in Colorado.”
Meyer continues with national numbers.
Meyer: “And at the U.S. level the forecast at 13.7 billion bushels that is up less than 1 percent from last month and down 4 percent from last year’s record production. The average yield at the U.S. level is expected to be 169.3 bushels per acre, down 1.7 bushels below last year. If this yield is realized it will be the third largest corn crop in U.S. history.
Tomorrow Meyer will continue with crop progress of sorghum, sugar beets and potatoes.
