Getting Ready For Planting

Getting Ready For Planting

Getting Ready For Planting. I'm Greg Martin with Colorado Ag Today.

Hard to believe that planting season is here already and if we're not talking about drought conditions then your can almost bet that things will be too wet. Just kind of the way things roll on the front range. But even with some rain this last week it will soon be time to start planting and Keenan, ag rep at 4Rivers Equipment in Fort Collins, talks about what folks might be looking for.

KEENAN: Just depending on what stage you're in. From plowing all the way up to mulching, discing, all the series all the way through. Some are right now just too wet. They're getting ready to plant with planters here shortly within the next week I would say. They'll start planting around the first of May usually. We just got a bunch of rain, we just got 2 inches of rain through the weekend, this past weekend. So we're wet yet. It's just started to get dry enough out there to probably hit the fields tomorrow.

4Rivers is just one of many John Deere dealerships across the region that will be ready and waiting with new and used equipment and Keenan reminds us that in case of a problem, their service department is always ready to help get you back up and running. The 2015 growing season will be interesting since even though there was some rain, all indications are that this will be another dry year for ag producers across the state.

And that's Colorado Ag Today. I'm Greg Martin, thanks for listening on the Ag Information Network of the West.
