Data Due Diligence

Data Due Diligence

Data Due Diligence. I’m Greg Martin with Colorado Ag Today.

More and more companies are collecting data these days. The question becomes, do you know what happens to your data? Many times companies have very long and complicated agreements where we often skip reading the content and just click the agree button. Dan Danford with Case IH.

DANFORD: When you’re a farmer and those things that you’re agreeing to are all tied into your life’s work, your business and all of your property and everything it makes a big difference and a lot of producers have already learned that and they’re changing their ways because of that, they’re asking the tough questions.

Data is a huge issue these days and ag producer can manage large amounts of data for their operations through devices like Case IH’s AFS Connect™.

DANFORD: We have our telematics system, our AFS Connect™ but what we’re not doing is taking up the users data because some of those other systems - that’s what they’re trying to do is say hey, we’ll be your one-stop shop, we’ll do everything just keep your data with us and we’ll connect it to every other possible place that might use your data and that is not what we are doing.

Danford says that with their system, it’s the farmer that decides how to use the data.

DANFORD: Our system is meant to allow them to manage their operation so it connects their machines so they can view it from their truck or their office. They have the piece of mind to know that others aren’t seeing that and they can do what they want with that information.

And that’s Colorado Ag Today. I’m Greg Martin, thanks for listening on the Ag Information Network of the West.
