Long Range Planning

Long Range Planning

Long Range Planning. I’m Greg Martin with Colorado Ag Today.

Potato growers in Colorado know this last year was a good harvest. But what might be in store for the future? Now these producers will have the opportunity to voice their opinions. David Fairbourn, Industry Communications & Policy Manager for the United States Potato Board.

FAIRBOURN: On November 5th, 2014, that’s a Wednesday, at 10:30am there will be a listening session for all growers to attend. The United States Potato Board will be engaging growers to discuss and present ideas about what they would like to see the Potato Board focus on in the next five-year long-range plan.

The listening session is for producers in the San Luis Valley. Fairbourn talks about some of the issues likely to come up.

FAIRBOURN: We suspect that there will be more focus on what we can do in this area. What we can do for fresh table stock potatoes, to increase the demand and make sure that consumer demand isn’t dropping off and that we’re seeing more traction in the retail environment with potatoes domestically. And then I’m sure there will be comments as to the plan going forward with developing markets and Mexico and in other parts of the world.

Make plans now to attend this important long-range planning session. For more details, contact the USPB office.

That’s Colorado Ag Today. I’m Greg Martin. Thanks for listening on the Ag Information Network.
